Short Stuff: Are Leaders "Born or Made"

Leadership, I believe is a trait that can be mastered and should be passed on to a motivated person ready to learn the skill. In leadership there are principles that comes with it and someone who is prepared to really learn the rules that governs any sector may and can become an effective leader.

Every human has the potential to be a leader, for some leadership skills might be something they are born with in terms of family genetics or being born with natural tendencies towards the kind of attributes that makes a good leader, that said,

I honestly do believe leaders truly are MADE. If a person does desire to go on a path to become a better person, having the right mindset and mentorship, taking the right courses on leadership training, there is no reason why he or she cannot effectively lead others.

By believing or conceiving the idea that leaders are BORN, we give ourselves a rather convenient excuse for failure, whereas by believing that leaders are MADE not born, then we work on our failures as opportunities to learn to do it better next time.

Keeping in mind though, it is advisable to identify someone with leadership potentials from a young age. Young people should be taught practical skills such as lifesaving, navigation, humanity, personal responsibility for themselves and others around them, and also more importantly a sense of pride from doing what's right.

For a leader to create transformation for others, it also require other traits such as self awareness, the willingness to admit to being wrong and being able to create a future from which the followers are inspired to take action etc.

These things as basic as they seem, they come from deliberate learning and practice. The honest truth is that anyone from anywhere really can learn these skills , behaviours and ways of being.

Either being born or made, what is important though is that a leader is able to inspire and motivate others around him or her to achieve common goals and objectives. A leader who is genuine and honest has the higher probability to be more successful than those who are not. Eventually, it takes a combination of qualities and traits to make a great leader.
